Flashy Flash

While I love this photo, the light shinning in from my pretty front door and her cute little bum as she reaches the top of the stairs, but I had to use my flash to get enough light in my stairway. I do not like the effect it had. Her diaper is screaming bright and there are harsh shadows all around. So I softened it with a little black and white, which I like better, but now I am missing her purple dress.

Splash Park

It was definitely bright enough outside for some great "fast shutter speed" shots. The I love the colors of the bright red gazebo behind the splash pad. I think I might try to clone out the bare chested man in the background, but for now, here's my girls having some fun.

I got Adam to buy me a new camera. Its the one I have been coveting ever since taking my camera class last month. I am super excited to learn to use it well. In order to document my improvements as a photographer, I'll keep this blog as a photo journal.

Here are my first attempts.

1. "first"- plain auto


2. first successful aperture manipulation

3. another aperture manipulation-although ellie's dress out of focus is a bit distracting

4. auto mode- composition would have looked better it I moved the shot downward getting more wood flooring than boring wall space.

5 and 6. aperture again with flowers in focus and emma out of focus
